In a bid to improve educational infrastructure and resources, members of the Local School Board (LSB) have convened at the Mayor’s Office conference room, 3rd flr., Mytallic Bldg., Camalig Municipal Hall.

The meeting kicked off with the introduction of Camalig’s new Public School District Supervisors (PSDSs), PSDS North, Ms. Aileen P. Manzanilla and PSDS South, Mr. Rodel B. Salting.

The discussions mainly focused on the preparation for a target budget amounting to Php3.7 million, with Camalig Local Chief Executive, Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., suggesting the necessity of adjusting the said budget to meet the schools’ needs while adhering to the Commission on Audit’s (COA) parameters. Given the limited budget, Mayor Caloy urged the board to determine real priority projects in the upcoming meeting.

The board further announced that the availability of over Php11 million in funds derived from the identified special education fund savings is set to be appropriated for school projects, purposely to cover various infrastructural and educational advancements.

The board also plans to facilitate the construction and installation of 16 units of water tanks, amounting to Php525,000. Mayor Caloy tasked the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO) to identify suitable water sources and installation sites to ensure adequate water supply in schools.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of land donations to schools, which will be executed following a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Bayan, with the end goal of expanding school campuses and facilities and enhancing the educational landscape for learners.
