



LGU-Camalig’s 2nd Women’s Summit fosters gender mainstreaming in governance and workplace
In line with the government’s aggressive drive to foster an equal and safer community for women, LGU-Camalig, through the Gender and Development (GAD) office, successfully held the 2nd Women’s Summit at the Negosyo Auditorium, at the Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO) in Brgy. Cabangan, Camalig, Albay on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
The activity saw the full support and participation of Town Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo Jr., Vice-Mayor Hon. Maria Ahrdail “Ding” G. Baldo, LGU-Camalig department heads and functionaries, Municipal Councilors Hon. Abegail Go, Hon. Sheila Marie Dino and Hon. Purisima Nocedo, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation Vice President Hon. Roger Gnilo, and Acting Albay Governor Hon. Baby Glenda Bongao.
The activity was marked by a program presided by Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO) Anne Mostaza, which featured key topics on women empowerment, including a motivational talk led by Mx. Abelardo “Billy” Balin Jr., Laws Protecting Women led by Atty. Krystle Lupango, and Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law) led by Municipal Councilor Hon. Purisima Nocedo.
Showing his full support, Baldo underscored the vital role of women in achieving the local government’s accolades and thriving economic status, saying, “Parte kamo sa nagtarabangan para makabot kita sa estado san satun na munisipyo ngana. Ubos na mga awards and achievement natun, indi yadi naging posible kung wara kamo.”
Echoing this, Bongao expressed her strong advocacy against violence against women (VAW), saying, “Let us continue to stand for women na patuloy paring inaabuso at yung mga walang boses, patuloy tayong tumayo para sakanila. Magtulungan tayo palagi kasi kayang kaya natin.”
