LGU-Camalig, headed by Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., has once again demonstrated its commitment to good governance and community development, receiving a total of 11 awards and ₱35,000 in cash at the “Pagsaludar” Awarding Ceremony held today, November 19, 2024, at the Hotel Lucca in Legazpi City.
 
The ceremony, organized by the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office, recognized the exemplary performance of LGUs across Albay in areas such as anti-drug abuse, peace and order, and other governance areas.
 
Camalig’s impressive haul included awards for its Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) for achieving an ideal rating of 92.57% during the LCPC functionality assessment, Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) for obtaining a high functionality rating of 110% and for being recognized as the Most Improved LCAT-VAWC with a remarkable 33% increase.
 
The local government was also recognized as a Provincial Passer with a rating of 88.37% in the Child Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), its Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) for achieving a high functionality rating of 95% and for its innovative “Society Against Great Influence of Prohibited Drugs (SAGIP)” poster information campaign.
 
Its Peace and Order Council (POC) was also awarded for obtaining a high functionality rating of 93.46% and another Innovation Award.
 
LGU-Camalig was also awarded with the Good Financial Housekeeping for 2023, and its first-ever Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Award, while Brgy. Cotmon was recognized as a passer for the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB).
 
Leading the Camalig delegation were Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Ms. Meredith Basquiñas, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) Ms. Edlyn Noble, RSW, Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) Focal Person, Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) Focal Person, and SGLG Focal Person, Public Information Officer (PIO) Mr. Tim Florece, Brgy. Cotmon Punong Barangay Hon. Dennise Misolania, and Mr. Franklyn Nebreja from the CPIO.
 
In his statement, Mayor Baldo expressed, “These accolades belong to the people of Camalig. Each award reflects our shared commitment to progress and service. Indi ta na po pagpundon ang momentum na yadi. Top 4 kita as Most Improved LGU, Gawad Kalasag, National Awardee sa SGLG pakatapos ning pirang tawn, kina Tourism Destination of the Year pa. Para sa saton na mga habitantes, let’s carry this momentum forward.”
