The Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), headed by Ms. Nineth O. Llasos, in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), recently conducted a leadership and enhancement training for 35 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at the Blackpepper Resto in Brgy. Salugan, Camalig, Albay.
The training, which aimed to empower PWD leaders and equip them with the necessary skills to effectively lead and serve, brought together presidents and leaders of PWD groups from various barangays in Camalig.
The training program included workshops, group activities, and discussions focused on identifying the needs and concerns of PWDs across different areas, enabling participants to share their experiences, challenges, and solutions, with the end goal of fostering a sense of community and shared understanding.
In his message, Camalig Mayor Hon. Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., emphasized the importance of leadership by example and patience, stating, “Be a leader. A leader must show example. Dapat mahaba ang pasensya para sa ikagaganda ng organization. Marunong dapat mag-set aside ng mga personal na interes at laging isipin yung para sa organisasyon at mga miembre nito.”, highlighting the crucial role of effective leadership in driving progress and achieving organizational goals.
Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chairperson on Social Services, Municipal Councilor Hon. Purisima Victoria Ching” G. Nocedo, also expressed her commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity for PWDs in Camalig. She stated, “Ayo po kita planong maki-MOA with additional doctors tabing ma-expedite ang serbisyo san munisipyo. Para indi na po kamo madipisilan mag-adon sa Legazpi para maka-secure ning serbisyo. Aram ko po na dipisil yadi para saynyo pero nakikita ko ang dedikasyon niyo. Usad po kamong importanteng sektor sa community. Parantay po kita ubos.”
Public Information Officer Mr. Tim L. Florece, emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and actively seeking feedback from the community. He stated, “One of the roles of LGU-Camalig is to promote inclusive governance. Pag sinabi ta po na inclusive governance, no one should be left behind, especially in public service and in the government’s decision-making process. The government is investing in feedbacking. Gustong sabyon po sadi, bago po mag-implement ang gobyerno ning mga programa, we need to hear your concerns and needs so that we can implement appropriate programs for you.”
