24 child laborers from 13 barangays across Camalig, Albay received educational assistance of Php2,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare & Development Office (DWSD) in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office (MSWDO), Camalig Municipal Hall lobby, Brgy. 2, Poblacion, Camalig, Albay.
 
Received by beneficiaries from Brgy. Miti, Bantonan, Cotmon, Ligban, Pariaan, Taladong, Cabraran Pequeño, Manawan, Comun, Gapo, Sumlang, Cabangan, and Gotob, the assistance forms part of the Strategic Help Desks for Information, Education, Livelihood, and other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD) program of the DSWD, which aims to combat child labor through the alleviation of financial burden, providing children with opportunities to pursue quality education.
 
Prior to the payout, profiling efforts were conducted by the DSWD, in coordination with the Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE), MSWDO headed by Ms. Edlyn L. Noble, RSW, and the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) headed by Ms. Meriam V. Nocillado, to ensure that the assistance will reach proper and deserving beneficiaries.
